Bug Blog #5
The Bug Blog finds has been plentiful in recent times, I've been seeing a bunch of different bugs at this new place that really catch my attention so they probably wont stop soon either!
Today I found this little fella. Emphasis on the little. In order to get this video I had to zoom all the way in on my phone's camera.
Didn't stay still for too long at all either. I first noticed it when it jumped up onto me and then my phone. I didn't notice all the movement it was doing because I could not see it without the zoom from the camera. I thought it's little dance was gif worthy so now this exists.

The Privet Leafhopper
Thanks to the help of BadGraph1csGhost and Benitengu, we have indentified this bug as a Privet Leafhopper (Fieberiella florii) Nymph.
This kind of bug is native to Europe and today can also be found is most places around the US and Canada. The one that I found and in the video above are both nymphs which basically means they are juvenile insects (AKA bugs that have not reached maturity). According to bugguide.net it "Feeds on a wide variety of broad-leafed, woody trees, shrubs and vines. Favorite host plants seem to be privet, fruit trees in the Rose Family (cherries, plums, peaches, apricots and apples, for instance) and other woody plants in the rose family." This would explain why I found it on my back porch, my neighbors have both cherries and apples in their backyard. The cherries fall into my backyard since the tree hangs over the property line so thats likely how this little fella ended up where I found it.
Once they reach maturity, these bugs take on a different look and gain wings
