Bug Blog #4
Starting to settle into the new place I moved into. Things are starting to seem better in some ways and worse in others. Things are getting scary with the US government and lots of good people are being snatched from their families.
All that aside, I found a spider friend that unfortunately decided to put it's web up in a doorway. My family has nearly walked into it countless amounts of times. One of these days it will likely dissapear because one of us finally walk into it or someone lets the intrusive thoughts win and kills it. Until then it's just chilling and trying to live it's best life. Very relatable, lil spider bro.
Help Identify it!
Spiders are outside of my relm of knowledge for the most part. Unless it's a jumping spider, I won't be able to identify it without help.
Don't be an Arachnophobe
This Spider is cute, so are a ton other spiders. There are dangerous spiders but hate for them all is unreasonable. It is often times driven by instincts and/or societal factors. Not every spider deserves this kind of treatment. Understand which actually poses a threat to you and which helps reduce the bug population in your house. I know I write blog posts about bugs but even I dislike bugs being inside my house and crawling on me while I sleep. Spiders will even eat other spiders which makes it easier for you to capture and release them and keep them out if you really don't want them inside.
Did I mention that they can be cute?
This is a Phidippus regius (A kind of jumping spider)
Jumping spiders actually get curious with what humans are doing and often times will interact with us in silly ways like waving hands when waved at. Jumping spiders also have excellent eyesight which is pretty uncommon among spiders, most of which can only really sense us through vibrations and smell unless they accidentally wind up on us in which case you can add touch.
Most spiders are not out to get you. Contain and then release them if you can't live with them in your space. Some give me the ick too, I understand how it feels but I also have restraint.
