Existential Stress
How do I even start this one? I want to scream but what good would that do? The stress has been getting to me pretty bad this week. Sleep is hard to come by. The bags under my eyes were very noticable yesterday but now I look like I've been punched in the face. To be fair my face kind of feels like it got hit.
Texas is attempting to pass a bill that would make presenting yourself authentically as a trans woman, trans man, or as nonbinary when applying for a job into a felony offense. Other states will likely make copycat bills. If you aren't scared then you aren't paying attention. First they used the "think about the children" card, now they are coming after adults. To be clear this was their goal all along. All of this has been spelled out on the wall with Project 2025 and a good portion of what Trump was saying during the election. The response from every one that they have been targeting has not been nearly strong or loud enough. If this bill passes, trans people will be at even higher risk of political violence and governnment persecution then we already are... all because we want to feel comfortable in our own skin.
They genuinely want trans people to kill themselves or go to prison. We have dared to exist so they have resorted to genocide. They don't even use the bullshit "we are trying to help you" speech anymore, they make us out to be criminals and pedophiles despite them being statistically more likely to be one then us. These are the same people that don't like seperation of church and state, ironic... and possibly the undoing of everyone that has opinions that differ from right wing christians. We are witnessing a genocide of trans people within the united states of america.
It's not just trans people
Trump has laid out his exact plans during the election. He has said that he will go after political opponents. Oh but words are just words right? Except they are not, actions have been taken too. Mahmoud Khalil is an activist that was arrested by plain clothes ICE officers. He had been apart of the pro-palestine protests at Columbia University so this was the government's attempt of making an example. Mahmound is a legal US citizen, he was born in Syria but he has a green card (permanent resident card). Despite this, he faces a good chance of being deported from the country.
The legalization of public acts of transphobia has also effected cis men and women. If you don't look feminine and dainty enough and enter the women's restroom, prepare to experience a police confrontation. If you don't look masculine enough to enter the men's restroom, prepare to be sexually assaulted. Everyone is a victim under this system.
The department of education is being gutted, the price of everything is fucked, Roe v. Wade was repealed so cis women's rights to self autonomy has already been at risk for years. ICE is the USA equivalent of the SS (secret police).
First They Came
There is a poem called First They Came, it was written by a priest in germany that started off as an antisemitic nazi supporter. He realized that he was supporting the lepoards eating faces party of his country when he wound up in a concentration camp because he spoke out against the nazis taking control of churches. In 1946 he released First They Came. If you would like to read the poem, you can with the link below.
https://hmd.org.uk/resource/first-they-came-by-pastor-martin-niemoller/This poem serves as a warning for us in the current day. Things can and will likely get worse, we collectively need to stand up against it now because we are running out of time to stand up at all. If Trump, Elon, and their bootlickers get their way and completly overthrow our legal system then there will be nothing holding them back. If we do manage to make it out of this, dont forget that the people responsible need to be held accountable for their actions.
If I end up in a prison or gunned down by a "vigilante" who will likely get pardoned, I can't speak up for other people. If the same happens to you, you can't speak up either. "Regular" people and bootlickers might be safe until they voice a opinion that goes against the grain or do something that the puritans consider taboo and by that point, there will be nobody to speak up for them. Again, everyone is a victim under this system.
Now Listen Closely
We have a chance of making it through this but there is a chance we might not. Trans people, please prioritize your survival until things settle down. Consider getting a handgun and practice at your local range with it. If a gun is too much then please consider pepper spray/mace and a stun gun or taser and learn how to operate them proficiently enough that you feel confident. Consider stocking up on non perishable goods and other things in case you have to stay indoors for long periods of time. Another thing to consider is making a bug out bag with enough food, water, and other essentials so you could just grab and survive outside for awhile. We have a long and rough road ahead so please be safe rather then sorry and make sure to help each other where we can. Trying to tackle the world by yourself is exhausting, especially in the current state of things. Remember, it is ok to be scared. I know I sure am, but I also know that sticking my head in the sand makes me and people like me into sitting ducks.
Don't lose all hope, thats how they really win.
