gremlin.neocities

My time in Tokyo-to (so far)

Sometimes I randomly stop working on this site. When that happens, one of two things could be happening. I could be doing stuff in person or I'm working on a different site. At the moment, I am working on another site called Tokyo-to.neocities. This site is meant for hosting info and forming a community around Jet Set Radio, Jet Set Radio Future, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, and Lethal League Blaze. Ever since JSR's steam delisting on December 6th 2024, I've felt a need to try to preserve and archive useful information around it and the games like it. Even before that I enjoyed working on the site but now it feels different ya know? It is like I'm doing something important with cultural impact rather then before where I worked on the site simply because I enjoyed these games and love the concept of web shrines and fan sites.

Tag Walls, Punch Fascists

While working on Tokyo-to.neocities, I have come to learn a lot about the stories and messages of these games and honestly I love them so much. These games are based around the ideas of counter culture and I don't mean the white washed right wing kind. They all have civilians that express themselves by breaking the law, governments hell bent on taking away self autonomy (and sometimes straight up ending the world), and most importantly... they all ooze style and have a cool factor other games simply just can't match. Given the current state of politics in my country, I very much appreciate what these games have to say.

Going "All City"

When I first started the site, I did not come close to understanding how much time and effort I was going to have to sink into it to simply get the basic skeleton and style of the site made. Making pages on my personal site tends to be easy due to the amount of content that neocities sites allow you to use on your own site, with Tokyo-to I am having to make and/or edit graphics mostly by myself which has led me becoming way more proficient at graphic design. You'd be surprised to see how much you can do with free software like GIMP and a little imagination. Doing all this has also taught me something, I'm only one person and the amount of time it is going to take to make the info portion of the site as a singular person is a crazy large amount of time. When first starting out I sort of had a concept that I was going to need some help but I did not understand just how much. If you are interested in contributing, head over to Tokyo-to.neocities to learn how to.

Shape Da Future

Recently tofokyo (the creator of Sweet Soul Showdown) got in contact with me about making an ad for Tokyo-to.neocities to be displayed on tofokyo.com. Below is what I ended up making.

It's meant to be displayed on a 4x3 mock crt tv that streams video which is why the video is 4x3 and low res. I could have put way more effort into it but it turned out nicely as is, I will likely be making more anyways!
