Bug Blog #2
My blog posts recently have been talking about some heavy stuff, not enough about the silly. I started this blog with bugs and I intend to post more about bugs. I found a interesting bug while smoking outside, it was easy to startle unlike the moth from the last bug blog but it did let me get close enough to take some really zoomed in shots. The photographer in me hates the concept of zoomed in images but in specific use cases like this, it can actually let you see details that you would otherwise be unable to see. I had to get on the ground and contort my body to get these shots but I'm glad that I got them!
I'm really happy with how the first image turned out, you get a pretty clear look at it's face! It had been coming towards me so I was pretty lucky to get this shot. It seemed kinda dissapointed that I did not let it get on me. In the last two shots, it was seemingly sun bathing. These were the first pictures that I got, I think it flew or leaped to that area (which was right in front of where I was smoking) but either way it immediatly caught my attention.
The Conchuela Stink Bug (Chlorochroa ligata)
This bug was identified by thatguyfrankenstein! The Conchuela Bug is a kind of stink bug that varies in looks significantly based on location. They can be found in arid environments on the western side of Canada, USA, and Mexico. These little guys are no harm to anyone directly, at most they might stink up the place and overwinter in your house if there is a opening for them to do so. They are herbivors although seem to enjoy a bit of egg and are known to sometimes eat juvenile insects. They like bright areas and can often be found sunbathing on or near buildings and plants. They are considered a pest to farmers but as long as you don't have places for them to get into your house, you should be fine. They are pretty chill, just don't accidentally bring a stowaway inside.
