Preparing Unseasoned Rice
This should work for long grain and jasmine rice
Stove Top:
- In a saucepan add 1 1/2 cup of water and one cup of rice. Cover the sauce pan with a lid and bring it to a boil
- Reduce the heat to medium or lower and allow it to simmer for 15 minutes or until all the water is absorbed. Stir it once.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow it to cool for 5 minutes.
Note: For drier rice, use 1/4 cup less water. For moister rice, add 1/4 cup more water
Microwave:
- In a microwave safe bowl add 1 cup of rice and 1 1/3 cup of water, then microwave it uncovered for 15-20 minutes or until the water is absorbed.
- Try the rice. If you bite down and find crunchy rice while all the water is absorbed, add a 1/4 cup and microwave for 5 more minutes
- Let the rice cool off for 5 minutes
Note: Not all microwaves are the same.
