Preparing Unseasoned Rice


This should work for long grain and jasmine rice


Stove Top:

  1. In a saucepan add 1 1/2 cup of water and one cup of rice. Cover the sauce pan with a lid and bring it to a boil

  2. Reduce the heat to medium or lower and allow it to simmer for 15 minutes or until all the water is absorbed. Stir it once.

  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow it to cool for 5 minutes.

Note: For drier rice, use 1/4 cup less water. For moister rice, add 1/4 cup more water


Microwave:

  1. In a microwave safe bowl add 1 cup of rice and 1 1/3 cup of water, then microwave it uncovered for 15-20 minutes or until the water is absorbed.

  2. Try the rice. If you bite down and find crunchy rice while all the water is absorbed, add a 1/4 cup and microwave for 5 more minutes

  3. Let the rice cool off for 5 minutes

Note: Not all microwaves are the same.
